building international love

I have looked into a few of the links provided for us this week and found that some of these organizations are quite amazing!

I would love to work with UNICEF who influences policy makers around the world and fights for the rights of every child. "We believe that nurturing and caring for children are the cornerstones of human progress." (UNICEF. 2003). This is something that I wish more people believed in. We are the teachers and the advocates for the future of the human race. UNICEF truly believes in this and shows it world wide. The one career opening I think would be a bit much for me, but if I could handle it I would love the opportunity. They had an opening for a regional director in west and central Africa. How fun would that be to travel and live in Africa for a portion of your life? I would love to see the world and be able to help out at the same time. http://www.unicef.org/index.php

UNESCO also sounded like an amazing organization! I like their ideals of working to connect nations around the world based on commonalities. This organization want all of us to have an open dialogue and be able to communicate about the things we have in common. We are all for the human race surviving and being able to simply get along, this organization is one that backs that notion. The job opportunities that they offered were not exactly my style but they sounded promising for someone who has the brain for numbers and international communication. I personally am not a numbers person and never have been. I do feel though that this organization has the right idea of trying to connect people through commonalities and respect. http://www.unesco.org/new/en/unesco/about-us/who-we-are/introducing-unesco/

The International Step by Step Association sounds as though they are really geared toward the children. This organization seems to be in it for the kids not for the business. "Using a thematic or project-based approach, classrooms are organized around developmentally appropriate learning and activity centers." (International step by step association. 1999). This sounds like the type of place I could work for as they are geared to helping centers around them place the ability to learn in the hands of the child. Having the organization to implement DAP is something I think most centers could use. I could not find a link to the careers but in general I would love to work for this company. They have their heads in the right spot and the children are what we are all really doing this for anyway!! http://www.issa.nl/services.html

(I could no find an exact copy right date for the ISSA so I used their established date, and UNICEF only said 2003 under their legal tab.)

  1. I also picked UNICEF for my blog. I really didn't know what they did until today. I am amazed. I might actually collect money for them now. I also chose a career in Africa, an educational specialist in Nairobi, of which I would not be qualified to do. However, I think it would be awesome to teach children from Africa.

  2. International Step by Step did seem like a great organization to be affiliated with. Did you see the link for the online professional development? It looked interesting and best of all it was free! The program includes 20 English speaking and 20 Spanish speaking teachers and the focus of the training is to help teachers be more reflective in their teaching. The sample assignment got me excited so I did send an email to the link to make sure I really had missed out or actually I'm hoping that there is one space open!

  3. Tiffany,
I also chose the same three organizations for them been committed to the well being of children. I have always been interested in UNICEF as well as any organization that I can use my various languages. I think working with children from other countries is an opportunity well worth taking.
